Leveraging Community Colleges
for Homeland
Security
The League
for Innovation in the Community College is distinctively positioned
as the national leader in communication strategies for community
colleges. With its
national conferences,
publications,
projects, and
web resources, the League for Innovation in the Community
College is well situated to champion a Homeland Security
Initiative and to leverage its significant
Board College presence to carry the message practically and
politically. Moreover, the League for Innovation in the
Community College will use its reach to create multiple methods
to document and share the various delivery systems already in
place and currently in development. Finally, the League for
Innovation in the Community College's
strategic
partnerships place it well to address the certification
models in use. Of particular interest is how the League for
Innovation in the Community College can facilitate the
improvement of existing certification and foster the development
of new certification around Homeland Security. In this effort,
the League for Innovation in the Community College will leverage
its work with ETS
and The
Chauncey Group International.
The League for Innovation in the Community
College's Homeland Security Initiative will (1)
increase the communication about community colleges' commitment
to and role in Homeland Security education and training, (2)
showcase and facilitate community colleges' delivery models, and
(3) improve existing and develop new curricula and
certifications in community colleges.
