CCTI Toolkit: Lorain County Community College

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Project Summary

The College & Career Transitions Initiative (CCTI) project at Lorain County Community College helps equip students with the skills and credentials required for success in college and employment. CCTI partners specifically with the Lorain County Joint Vocational School Teacher Education Exploration (TEE) Program to help ease the transition from high school to college. The program makes available to participants a comprehensive set of academic, career, and support services.

In the spirit of collaboration and to provide a career pathway for teacher education, the following institutions have formed the CCTI Site Partnership: Lorain County Community College, the Lorain County Joint Vocational School (LCJVS), Avon Local Schools Superintendent, Avon Lake Public Schools Superintendent, Elyria City Schools Superintendent, and the LCCC University Partnership. The Lorain County Joint Vocational School coordinates the Teacher Education Exploration Program and helps connect its students to our program for support services. The mission of the Teacher Education Exploration Program is to encourage interested high school seniors to enter the teacher profession by providing them with the support and training necessary for success as both students and teachers. The three school district superintendents in the partnership represent the business and industry sector as potential employers of TEE graduates. "Home grown" teachers will only benefit our county. These employers support the initiative by encouraging teachers to take the time and effort to sponsor a student intern, providing equipment and material support, and accommodating schedules.
