Women in Science and Technology Program
Similar to other institutions across the country, Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) experiences fewer female students entering science and technology fields, particularly computer science. Additionally, of those who begin such programs, many do not persist. The Women in Science and Technology (WIST) program was established to promote the success of female students in STEM programs. This grassroots leadership program, pioneered by a group of female employees at the college, provides group support and personal mentorship opportunities to female students at MCCC. Through the program, students are supported via career exposure, academic and career coaching, informal lunches and networking, and individual mentoring opportunities.
