2019-2020 Innovation of the Year Award Winner: Wallace State Community College

Forensic Psychology Program

The Wallace State Community College (WSCC) team collaborated to research, develop, and launch Forensic Psychology, a new transfer degree to Athens State University that combines criminal justice, psychology, and sociology in a rapidly expanding field. From the conception of this collaborative idea more than two years ago, they worked diligently to create a curriculum and pathway comprised of relevant and engaging coursework reinforced by focused advising and networking with practitioners in the field. Despite campus cyberattacks and the coronavirus, more than 30 students have enrolled in the Introduction to Forensic Psychology course. This degree expands possibilities for students and opens the door to a variety of jobs in local, state, and federal agencies. WSCC currently offers the only Forensic Psychology transfer degree in the Alabama Community College system.
