Homeland Security Assessment
Many organizations have embraced the concept of improving overall
performance by using Baldrige criteria as a benchmark to gauge their
strengths and opportunities for improvement, and as a measurement of their
overall alignment and integration of key processes.
Homeland security readiness for higher education institutions can also be addressed by
conducting a campuswide self-assessment. This workshop involves the
assessment of an institution’s homeland security vulnerabilities to ensure
its readiness during turbulent times. A two-day workshop
based on the homeland security assessment manual written by the workshop
facilitator provides a security check for institutions’ homeland
security efforts and aligns the Baldrige Award Criteria for Performance
Excellence with homeland security issues. The workshop includes

other organizations’ homeland security efforts,

guide for the institution’s short-term and longer-term homeland security

A scoring system for
institutions to gauge their homeland security readiness based on the
National Color-Coded Homeland Security Advisory System (HSAS).
